We`re not even a week into the New Year and an absolute stunner just walked through our door. Heaven only knows where this beaut of a Burgundy`s been hiding, but we were completely sideswiped by the staggering quality of this prime time Puligny. Guillaume and Aude Lavollée represent the fourth generation of vignerons at Génot-Boulanger. Their wines are produced exclusively from estate-owned vineyards, located along all three Burgundy côtes, from Chambolle Musigny, down to the domaine in Meursault.  Their care and attention becomes obvious in the glass. A hue of bright white gold with fresh honeysuckle, ripe apricot, toasty almond and struck flint on the nose. A wonderfully fresh and uplifting palate, showing laser-like bright acidity with crunchy green apple, Amalfi lemon, young peach and dried fruit, with light & creamy vanilla balancing out the acids. Classy minerality leads to an understated, elegant finish. If this is the level of white Burgundy we can look forward to this year, the sky is the limit. Extremely limited quantities available…..don`t begin the year by losing out on this incredible Burgundy. We got an amazing deal on this one and it`s way under market for this incredible wine.

A source of some of the finest, juicy, silky and elegantly floral Chardonnay in the Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet lies just to the north of Chassagne-Montrachet, a village with which it shares two of its Grands Crus vineyards: Le Montrachet itself and Bâtard-Montrachet. Its other two, which it owns in their entirety, are Chevalier-Montrachet and Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet. And still, some of the finest white Burgundy wines come from the prized Premiers Crus vineyards of Puligny-Montrachet. To name a few, Les Pucelles, Le Clavoillon, Les Perrières, Les Referts and Les Combettes, as well as the rest, lie northeast and upslope from the Grands Crus.
