2010 Chateau Lascombes
Just recently, we have been blown away by Chateau Lascombes from 2000, 2012 & 2015. We have been so impressed with the quality of this unsung hero; we have adopted a buy-on-sight policy so we can pass on the experience to our members & clients. While referring to the majestic Triple 96 Point 2010 Chateau Lascombes, Robert M. Parker Jr. went on the record with: "Probably the greatest Lascombes made to date," and it has been a very long process. From the 17th century, when Antoine Chevalier de Lascombes was in charge, to the present day, ten generations have succeeded each other, leaving their mark on this blossoming icon of the Margaux appellation. Classified as 'Second Growth,' this winery is well on its way to being considered a 'Super-Second', owing to consistent leaps in quality over the last decade. All praise goes to the crack winemaking team of Dominique Befve director, winemaker Alain Raynaud and consultant winemaker to the greats Michel Rolland. This exceptionally smooth, aromatic expression of the cherished Margaux terroir is right in the sweet spot and ready to go. Robert Parker`s review below is 11 years old, and it is evident from the two most recent reviews (2023 & 2024) the wine has since developed exponentially, morphing into a truly spellbinding Margaux.
