Just recently we have been blown away by Chateau Lascombes from 2000, 2012 & 2015. We have been so impressed with the quality of this unsung hero; we have adopted a buy-on-sight policy so we can pass on the experience to our members & clients. While referring to the majestic Triple 96 Point 2015 Chateau Lascombes, Robert M. Parker Jr. went on the record with: "Probably the greatest Lascombes made to date," and it has been a very long process. The 2015 Château Lascombes is a bold and polished Margaux that beautifully captures the richness and finesse of this exceptional vintage. A deep, inky hue leads to a nose layered with blackberry compote, cassis, and violets, laced with hints of mocha, cedar, and sweet spice. On the palate, the wine is plush and full-bodied, with velvety tannins supporting a core of ripe dark fruit, while a streak of freshness keeps everything vibrant and in balance. The finish is long and luxurious, showcasing both the power and elegance that Margaux is known for. Château Lascombes has a storied history dating back to the 17th century, named after the knight Antoine de Lascombes, who was one of its earliest known owners. Classified as a Second Growth in the 1855 Médoc Classification, the estate has undergone significant transformation in recent decades. Major investments and modernizations, particularly since the early 2000s, have elevated the quality of the wines, making Lascombes a standout among Margaux producers. Today, the estate blends tradition with innovation, crafting wines that express both the character of the terroir and the precision of contemporary winemaking. The 2015 vintage is a striking example of that balance.
