2020 Chateau Leoville Poyferre

Chateau Léoville Poyferré has been owned by the Cuvelier family for a century, yet it was not until the 1970's when Didier Cuvelier took control at the château that quality began to skyrocket. Enhanced immeasurably by the employment of globally venerated wine consultant Michel Rolland in 1994, Léoville-Poyferré has since been elevated into one of Saint-Julien's finest estates. Now firmly entrenched, occupying its place as one of the elite Super Second marques, the 100-point perfect rating from Robert Parker for the 2009 vintage, turbo-charged the estate's reputation, and the wine world sat up and took notice. Uncannily, prices for Leoville-Poyferre remain incredibly approachable, and we are delighted to be able to offer you the 98+ Point 2020 Château Léoville Poyferré for an astonishing $159.99 per bottle. Much like its neighbor Léoville Barton, due to their sky-high quality they are totally charming in their early life, but are also equipped to age gracefully over decades. In its seductive black and gold livery to celebrate 100 years of Cuvelier reign, this is a very special Saint-Julien at an exceptionally modest price point.

2015 Chateau Cos D' Estournel

Separated from Château Lafite only by little more than a stream, Super Second Growth Château Cos d’Estournel is one of the most exceptional wines in the St-Estèphe appellation. It came to prominence when Louis Gaspard-d’Estournel took ownership in the 19th century and through his interest in the overseas market and love of adventure, brought it to the attention of British royalty, the Tsar of Russia and customers in the Far East. British Army Officers stationed in India were enjoying Cos d’Estournel in the mid-1800s. Louis, known as the ‘Maharajah de St-Estèphe’ built the fascinating oriental-style pagodas and infused the château and winery with an eclectic mix of styles and influences. Renowned for its pedigree, the wines are sumptuous, full-bodied, dark and brooding when young, which go on to develop a complexity and intensity that can, and most often do rival the top estates from Pauillac, including the venerable first growths

2023 Alphonse Mellot La Moussiere Sancerre

As far back as 1513 local records mention the Mellot family as wine merchants and growers of wines of excellent quality, gaining further recognition when César Mellot was appointed as Wine Advisor to Louis XIV in 1698. At the beginning of the XIX century Alphonse Mellot founded a tavern in Sancerre where one could savor the local wines and began a flourishing trade. In 1881 he was granted a license to ship his wine throughout France and all over the World, this marked the beginning of an international presence, which has been developed by the family business from father to son ever since. Today, with centuries of winemaking tradition under their belt, the Alphonse Mellot label sits at the top of the wine producing pyramid in Sancerre The house’s ‘Tete-de-Cuvee,’ Domaine la Moussière, is one of the greatest 'classic' Sancerres: linear, lithe, acid-driven and elegant. We had the pleasure of hosting Alphonse Mellot (the19th) at the club last week, and we tasted through his stunning portfolio. The 'La Moussiere' is the Burgundy lover`s Sancerre, and a candidate for Graileys go-to summer white. Back up the truck.

2021 Rotem & Mounir Saouma "Inopia" Blanc

Rotem & Mounir’s wines are breathtaking. This spectacular white is more reminiscent of a quality Meursault than a Rhone. The Inopia will undoubtedly change your perception of the traditional wines of the region. The kaleidoscope of the terroirs he works with are reflected in his cellar, like a mad scientist`s lab, there is a combination of barrels, foudres, cement and concrete eggs, all used to tease out the unique characteristics of his top quality fruit in a brighter, more modern version of the classic Rhone varietals. The Inopia Blanc shakes up the old, flabby, more viscous white Rhones, and opens your eyes to a lighter, more complex, Burgundian style white. The 2021 Inopia Blanc is a forward-thinking, groundbreaking wine at a shockingly modest price point. Trust us.
